Chelsea agree £28M fee to sign Torino right back

Chelsea have agreed a £28M deal with Torino for right back Davide Zappacosta. Chelsea will pay an up front sum of £23M with the rest being made up of performance related add ons.

Chelsea are keen to sign another right sided player who can provide competition for Victor Moses who performed so well last season.

Chelsea were hoping to sign Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and play him at right wing back but the midfielder opted for a move to Liverpool so he could play in center midfield, this led to Chelsea turning their attention to Zappacosta.

The 25 year old Italian had a successful season with Torino in Serie A making 26 appearances and scoring one goal. His performances led to a call up for the national side with Italy and has also tempted Chelsea into making an offer for his services.

The bid is yet to be accepted or rejected but it’s thought that it will be enough to prise the Italian away from Torino.
